Hello, this is Chris Yoon, the Head of School at Songdo International Academy (SIA).
First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude
to the parents and students who have been patiently awaiting the opening of our school.
I would like to take this opportunity to briefly update you on the current status
of the school and our plans moving forward.
Currently, SIA is undergoing some significant changes related to its establishment.
Due to this, we have temporarily put promotional activities,
open houses, and website updates on hold.
The reason for this is that the construction schedule for the Songdo campus,
including the remodeling of the main building, playground, and gymnasium,
has been significantly delayed.
The approval process with Incheon City and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority
has taken longer than expected, particularly for projects requiring a master plan modification,
which may take up to 18 months.
As a result, we are currently pausing some facility construction.
Thus, we are considering two options:
(1) To proceed with opening this September by temporarily leasing a nearby building,
then moving to the new campus once construction is completed next year;
(2) To delay the opening until the fall of 2026, once all construction is fully completed.
As a result, the school opening schedule may need to be adjusted.
We deeply understand the anticipation and excitement of the parents and students,
and we sincerely apologize for having to share this update.
A final decision regarding the school's establishment is expected to be made within the next 3–4 weeks.
We once again thank you for your continued support of Songdo International Academy,
and we will do our utmost to provide the best possible educational environment for our students.
Thank you.
